Leading Electronics manufacturer LG and Sports Journalists Association of Kenya- SJAK, yesterday inked a deal that will see them join hands to improve standards of football in the country.
The two year deal valued close to Kes 5 million, will mainly focus on motivating Kenyan footballers through rewarding outstanding performance in the premier league.
As part of the agreement, LG will support the association’s activities including donating prizes for its footballer of the month awards, annual gala awards ceremony as well as some off-season community tournaments like Koth Biro among others.
“We are extremely happy to partner with SJAK to reward best performing players in the Kenyan Premier League. We believe that our joint action will contribute to boosting players’ morale as well as maintain and develop interest in the sport across the country,” said Moses Marji, General Manager Marketing, LG Electronics.
This is the second deal that LG is signing with the association having signed a similar one last year.
“In a bid to spur development of sports in the country we rolled out a programme where we reward the most outstanding player in the Kenya premier league. This is a start and we have seen it motivate the players. With such partnerships we envision a bright future for Kenyan sports,” said Chris Mbaisi, Sports Journalist Association of Kenya president.
The Sports Journalists Association of Kenya is an affiliate of the International Sports Press Association AIPS headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, which seeks to enhance the cooperation between sports media in defending sport and the professional interest of their members.
