Self styled Gor Mahia midfielder Khalid Aucho is the May Sportpesa/SJAK Player of the Month. The Ugandan becomes fourth recipient of the award in 2016 following previous exploits by Timothy Otieno of Posta Rangers, Sharif Mohamed of Bandari and Muhoroni Youth’s Wycliffe Ochomo.
Aucho anchored Gor Mahia to four victories in May and weighed in with one goal and three assists to his credit.
The self declared ‘bad boy’ who is said to be in Glasgow Rangers’ radar took home the 43 inch LG television and Ksh100000 that comes with the gong.
Khalid Aucho garnered seventeen votes to edge three other contestants for the May award. Teammate Eric ‘Marcelo’ Ouma who’s endeared himself to fans was a close second with fifteen votes, same as Ulinzi Stars’ prolific striker John Makwata.
Sony Sugar midfielder Frederick Onyango was fourth with thirteen votes.
The surprised player dedicated the award to his brother who was buried in Uganda last week.
“I didn’t expect to get the award in fact I thought it would be one of my colleagues here but I’m happy and thank God. It feels good to be recognised after working hard. ” he said
Aucho confirmed talks with Glasgow Rangers saying negotiations are advanced but he remains a Gor player until the deal is done.
“It would be good for my career because that’s a different team and league. I’m just patient and focusing on duty at Gor Mahia. If it happens fine for me. I can confirm that it is upon them to make the last move as everything is done from my end.” he concluded
